Changing the Odds - Treatment for Gambling Problems

Program Overview

Changing the Odds is an evidence based cognitive behavioral intervention for persons challenged by gambling problems.  The purpose of this group is to empower participants to manage their problem gambling behaviors while incarcerated and develop a community re-entry action plan that works.  In short this program is about change.  The program includes an in depth assessment, treatment planning, four group sessions, eight individual sessions, and four weekly telephone based counseling sessions after release.

Evidence Based Methods

The Freedom Group relies heavily on evidence based programs designed to address addiction and criminal behavior.  Specifically, this includes Community Reinforcement Approach (CRA), Contingency Management (CM), and Telephone Based Aftercare (TBA) and Cognitive Behavioral methods (CB).  These methods have been successfully used by many persons struggling with addictive behaviors, and we believe you can use them to reach your goals.
